Abuse of Women Worldwide

I want to say a big thank you to everyone who has visited this blog.  I want to say a special thank you to those of you who have read my post and have taken the time to click the like button or leave a comment.  I apologize if I am sometimes late in posting a response, but I really do try to read your posts and respond to your comments.  This year my main focus will be on drawing awareness to the ‘Abuse of Women worldwide.

Rape and Abuse

The rape and subsequent death of a twenty-three year old-young woman in India last December was a real eye-opener which drew the attention of the world.  This incident however is just a tip of the iceberg.  The callous and inhumane treatment of women around the world must be addressed.  The stories of rape and other forms of abuse need to be told.  The  way men think about and view women need to change.

I use the term, men loosely, because real men protect and defend women.  I think it is time to find another name for those who rape and abuse women.  I have racked by brains for a word, but all I could come up with is slime-balls, so slime-balls  it is.  We seem to have too many of these slime-balls roaming the earth, preying on defenseless women.  These slime-balls are physically, morally and intellectually inadequate.  They obviously lack self-esteem and confidence in themselves to be able to get a woman, so to makeup for their inadequacies they rape and abuse defenseless women.  When six men see nothing wrong in raping a young woman, inserting rods in her to the point where it damages her internal organs, then something is seriously wrong.

The time has come for us to start taking out the garbage.  The clean up campaign must begin.  Heads of governments need to get their act together.  It is time for more action and less talk.  We must begin to rid our societies of slime-balls  and put them behind bars where they belong.

Inspirational Story

Paid in full with one glass of milk

There was a poor boy named Howard Kelly who was going through some real bad times. He wanted to study but had no monetary support so to make the ends meet he started to sell goods from door to door. This way he could pay his school fee. But selling is a hard job. One fine day, he found he had just one thin dime left and he was hungry as well.

He wondered for a while and then decided to ask for the meal at the next house. When he knocked at the door, a pretty lady came out and Kelly felt nervous. Instead of asking for the food he just asked for a drink of water.

Lady could feel pangs of hunger on boy’s face so she brought him a large glass of milk. Boy was astonished and yet he could not resist his hunger. He drank the milk slowly and asked lady, ‘how much do I owe you?‘ Lady replied, ‘You don’t owe me anything. I have been taught never to accept pay for an act of kindness’. Boy was extremely touched and thanked her from the bottom of his heart. This incident left a profound effect on boy’s psyche. His faith in God and man further increased.

Many years passed after that small incident. The young lady became critically ill and local doctors were clueless about her illness. She was sent to the big city where specialists were called upon to diagnose and treat her problem. The mystery surrounding the illness forced doctors to call Dr. Howard Kelly. When Mr. Kelly first heard about the town she came from, he instantly remember the entire incident and rushed his way to check the patient.

Howard Kelly immediately recognised her and started doing everything in her capacity to save young woman’s life. After giving special attention to the case for quite some time, the lady started getting better. When it came to the matter of bill payment, Dr. Kelly requested hospital authorities to pass the final bill to him.

After carefully examining the bill details, he scribbled something on the edge of the paper and passed the bill to patient’s room. She was scared to have a look at the bill knowing it would take her rest of the life to pay for the expensive treatment. But when she finally opened the bill, she saw something written on the side of the bill,

‘Paid in full with one glass of milk’
Signed, Dr. Howard Kelly.

Enslaved

I look at her battered, bruised face,
And she quickly looks away,
“I fell,” she responded, to the unspoken question,
And yet she wouldn’t look my way.
Caught up in a situation of physical abuse
Why did she think she had to stay?
“Leave him,” I told her,
And she pretended not to understand.
“I fell,” she repeated,
Trying to convince me,
Trying to convince herself.
“You don’t deserve this,” I told her,
“He loves me,” she says.
“No,” I tell her,
“Love is not supposed to hurt.”
She nods her head as if agreeing with me,
And yet I wonder,
Does she really understand?

In the US between 1000-1600 women die each year as a result of domestic violence.  It is time to take charge and make changes don’t allow yourself to become part of the statistic for 2013.  Engage in health and fulfilling relationships.  Learn to recognize signs of abuse and remove yourself before you get trapped in a life of physical abuse.

Say NO to Physical Abuse

Warning Signs That Your Man Could be an Abuser

Violent Temper and Sudden Mood Changes

If your man display violent behavior and has problems controlling his temper when dealing with others, pay attention.  If he was abusive in a previous relationship, this is a warning sign that you should not ignore.  You must also note that when he hits you he may try to make light of the situation.  A friend of mine once  came to me complaining that his girlfriend had left him.  I of course asked him why.  He said they had gotten into and argument and he accidentally hit her.

As the saying goes there are two sides to every story.  His girlfriend who was also a friend of mine told me what really happened.  She had gone to a work related function and was late in returning home.  He had come in search of her and met her on her way back home.  Without any provocation, perhaps just being angry by the fact that she was late, he punched her.  The blow left her unconscious and regained consciousness in the hospital.  She left him.  He could have killed her.  She said she wasn’t going back because the next time she might not that lucky. She never took him back, and who could blame her?  Yet this is the mistake many women make, going back to their partners after being physically abused by them.

If he is loving and charming when people are around then becomes hostile and abusive when you are alone, do not ignore the changes in his behavior.  Abusive men pick the time and place to  carry out their abuse.  They are often very charming when others are around to observe them, but become a different person behind closed doors.  Some abusers seem to have split personality.  In public they have this desire to be seen as Mr. Nice guy and it is this nice guy attitude which might charm a woman into falling for him.  However when you are alone with him behind closed doors and you see his true character emerging, do not hesitate or second guess your self; end the relationship.  The longer you remain the more difficult it will be for you to extricate yourself.

Solitude

As oft we moan and groan about our broken hearts,
Of the love we had and lost, of the one who was insincere,
And whose promises and words of love were false.

Yet there are those who have never loved,
Who have never known what it is like to have
a broken heart,
Some whose lips have never been kissed,
Who have never had arms to hold them tight,
Who have never felt the touch of a gentle caress,
Or experience the ecstasy of another body next to theirs,
The womb that never bore a child,
The breast that never suckled,
What is it like to go through life without once being touched?

Some wait and wait to find the perfect someone,
That never ever comes along,
Wasted years, waiting for something that doesn’t exist,
Some wait for that perfect husband,
To give them that perfect child,
A glimpse of him eventually appears,
But alas! It is too late because the childbearing days are gone,
So there still remains that uneven equation,
And the feeling that something is missing.

We live in an imperfect world and there is no such thing,
As a perfect someone,
For those who have never loved,
There is no missing something you have never experienced,
And though it may seem safer,
Is it really happier not to love,
Than to love and have your heart broken?
Not necessarily, because there will be no good times
to remember,
No memories to cherish, no one to reminisce about,
No experience to guide you,
What is it like to have lived and never loved?

Sometimes we spend so much time moaning over the things that are wrong in our lives that we do not take the time to notice all the wonderful things we have that are often  times more important than the things we complain about.  Every morning we wake we need to give thanks to God for allowing us to live to see another day.   Give thanks for the things we have that we take so much for granted; like being able to see, or talk, or walk, always be mindful that there are some out there who can’t.   Give thanks for good health, for family and friends.  Give thanks for the problems and obstacles you were able to overcome.  These life lessons help to make us stronger.  These experiences can make us wiser.  At all times as long as there is life, give thanks!

The Other Woman

It was fun being the other woman,

It was exciting taking someone else man,

The mistake she made was marrying him,

For now she truly understand the saying,

what goes around comes around.

The tables have turned and now she is the one,

who has to compete with the other woman!
