From A Man’s Perspective
Recently I came across a Facebook video of a man sharing his views about the growing nudity displayed by women. He voiced his concern that woman are not taking pride in themselves any more and seem to think they have to walk around half-naked to catch the eyes of a man. He warns that they will attract attention but from the wrong men and that they should take more pride in themselves because a man can spot a good woman from a distance even if she is fully clothed.
I am noticing this growing trend of women wearing less and less and I feel sad that women feel they have to go to this level in order to feel attractive. Women please be reminded that respect begins with you.
Every woman has the ability to experience personal growth and development. This first step begins with you adopting a positive attitude towards life. You must have a fervent desire to rise above any problem or circumstances that may be holding you back. Be aware of your environment and social connections. If your circle of friends are negative, unproductive people who add nothing to your growth, you need to change them.
Set achievable goals for your life and devise a plan on how you are going to reach those goals. Make a chart of the things you hope to achieve and set a time frame. Push yourself to achieve your daily or weekly goals. Be in touch with your spiritual side. It is always a good thing to believe in a higher power to sustain you and lift you up. Find something that motivates you and give you hope. Knowledge is very important so read widely on topics that interest you. Read to increase your intelligence or simply for recreation. You will be surprised at how much you can learn from making a habit of reading. Above all as you going through each day have a strong belief in self and your ability to be successful.
One of the most important step in empowering women is educating girls. It is imperative that they are given the chance to receive a good education. In some countries across the world millions of girls are denied the chance of getting an education. Many are forced into child labor and child marriages where they endure a life of servitude. This impact negatively on the quality of life for the girls involved.
Girls who are denied an education become women who are ill-equipped for the job market. They are denied the chance of equal opportunity in the workplace and are more likely to live a life of poverty.
It may be surprising to know that jealousy and the lack of self-confidence are the two main factors that drive a wedge between women. Women can get along. We can build each other up if we rid our minds of jealousy and have confidence in our own abilities. With confidences we can soar to new heights. A confident woman takes joy in seeing her sisters rise.
Do you believe that if you truly love someone it means that you will love them no matter what? Now I know people have mixed views about what true love entails however one must be quick to understand that a healthy relationship involves two people having mutual love and respect for one another. It should never be a one-sided thing so don’t fall for that trap where a partner hurts you and then tell you that if you truly love you would forgive him. How about him loving you enough not to hurt you in the first place?
The belief that true love last forever and it is worth fighting for is one of the reason why women remain in abusive relationship hoping that the more love they show the abusive partner, the more likely it is that he will change. This is a belief that often leads to disappointment for no amount of love that you show him will make him change. He has to feel that deep love inside for you and respect you enough not to hurt you. They change that you seek can only come from him. You can’t make him change and you should never settle for abuse. It is okay not to love your abuser. It is okay to walk away.
We are living in modern times where we do not expect certain things to happen but today as we speak we have millions of women and girls who have been forced into the sex slave industry. At present it is one of the fastest growing industry globally. Young girls are at risk, vulnerable young women are at risk.
I urge women to talk to their teenage daughters about the threat of sex slavery. Young women I want you to be aware that you need to be careful about those with whom you associate because it could be that very person who befriend you who is paving the way for you to become a sex slave. Knowledge is key so be aware that the evil of sex slavery is on the rise.
My sisters I want you to know that God saw a purpose for our existence and thus he created us and He was pleased with His handiwork. Now there was viral video recently of a pastor demeaning women. According to him if a woman wears makeup, paints her nails or wear hair which is not her own that makes her a whore. He went on to tell the men in his congregation that if they are married to a woman who does that they are married to a whore.
I know that most of us are intelligent enough to know the definition of a whore and that these things do not make a woman a whore any more than her wearing tight or short clothing. Ironically instead of being outraged some women defended this man, believing themselves that a woman’s attire is what defines her. I was disappointed but not surprised because sadly woman are often the first to tear down other women.
While I believe that a woman ought to carry herself in a respectable manner and dress properly for church the garment she wears does not make her a whore. As women we need to lift each other up instead of tearing each other down because what is in your heart counts more than what is on your body.
