Look Inward

Make a Difference
It doesn’t matter how big your house is, how expensive the car that you drive is or how many degrees you have. When you depart this earth no one is going to remember you for that. However if you live not just for yourself but help those in need and show empathy for others, if you stand firm as a voice for the voiceless and give hope to the hopeless, if you show by your love that you care…long after you are gone people will remember you as someone who lived and made a difference
Broken Trust
I want to trust you but my heart is so afraid,
You say you have changed,
But how can I be sure,
I want to believe you,
But I don’t want to have to re-live,
The heartache of the past.
Painful memories serves as a reminder,
Of the risks I have taken,
And the promises that have been broken.
I want to stay afloat,
Not suffocating in this love,
Drowning in my tears,
Knowing that your loyalty is not here.
Indifference
The silence between them is profound
She yearns so much
for a hug from him
or just a gentle touch.
But he turns away and she feels frozen
by the coldness he displays.
Feelings of love unrequited
hits her like a mountain of waves.
She would do anything
if this relationship she could save.
His phone rings, he answers it and smiles,
“I am going to meet Sam for a drink,” he says
But of course she knows he lies.
“I know about her,” she says.
He looks at her and there is no surprise in his eyes.
He offers no ostentatious words of denial,
Unperturbed by his betrayal,
“Don’t wait up for me,” he says.
His words cut her like a knife,
Her heart is bleeding,
She feels like screaming,
But she is numbed by his indifference.
An apology, or even a denial,
Anything would have been better
than his cold indifference.
Smell the Roses
If life makes you weary stop and take a rest. Smell the roses and enjoy the sunshine. It is pointless to wear yourself out and not enjoy the simple pleasures along the way on the journey of life.
