Today’s Positive thought

Things might not always turn out the way you expect them to. Don’t question it. Things have a way of turning out exactly how they were meant to be.

Domestic Violence

Domestic violence continues to be a scourge. Though it affect both women and men, women are three times more likely to die than men. The fight to end violence in relationship is not an easy one as often many people do not seek help until the abuse becomes unbearable and the relationship so toxic that addressing it becomes more complex.

Before it gets to that point one must take action. Learn to recognize the signs that someone may be grooming you for abuse. When someone raises his hand and strikes you, then apologize and you forgive him and stay and the cycle is repeated again and again, that person is grooming you to accept abuse as a part of your relationship. Don’t fool yourself into believing he will change and things will get better. It never does. The moment the abuse begins is the moment you must get out of the relationship.

Love is not supposed to hurt!

Your Most Precious Gift

If I were to ask what is the most precious gift you have on this earth, what would you say. For different people it could be different things. However if you stop and think about it long and hard your answer might change. The reality is that the most precious give each of us have is our lives. The gift of life can take second place to no other. It is because of it that we are able to enjoy the other gifts that God has bestowed upon us such as our children, spouses, families and friends. Do not take this gift lightly. Cherish every moment of it.

The Seed

The Seed

I planted a seed of faith,

I molded it up with hope,

I showered it with love,

Then I waited for it to grow.

It grew for a while,

But then it got scorched up by the sun,

I watered it with my tears,

Refusing to let it die,

I held on to my faith,

I continued to hope.

It struggled for a while,

Then slowly began to grow.

And then one morning,

I looked outside my window,

To find that it had bloomed,

And I felt a burst of joy,

As my eyes behold,

The most beautiful of flowers,

That I have ever seen.

At times in life you have to have faith and keep on believing!

Life

You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can stay where you are and change the ending!

Domestic Violence…When will it end?

Domestic violence is a global issue. It affects women all over the world and despite efforts many women lose their lives to domestic violence each year. According to a UN report over 50,000 women lost their lives to intimate partners or family members in 2018. This tells us that a solution is nowhere in sight. A part of the problem is that the approach to domestic violence is somewhat like trying to put a bandaid on a wound that need stitches. Many people wait until their situation becomes unbearable before they seek help.

We must begin to take a more proactive approach to the fight against domestic violence. We must take domestic violence awareness into the classrooms. We have to start educating our young people of the ills of domestic violence before they engage in relationships. We have to teach our girls as well as boys that abuse is not an acceptable behavior in a relationship.

Women alone cannot bring about change. The police alone are not going to bring about change. The government alone cannot bring about change. Everyone has to get involved. We have to get more men on board. Many are against domestic violence. We need them to speak to other men about this issue. We also need to talk about in church and in the workplace. Let us rewrite the script. Abuse in a relationship is not okay. Let us with a collective voice say NO to domestic abuse.

This may sound hilarious but it is true. A parrot was taken into custody in Brazil after it warned it drug dealers owners of a police raid. It is reported that as he police depended on the drug den the bird cried “Mama the police,” in Portuguese. A couple were arrested in the raid. However cops were unable to get another word out of the parrot. It is obviously a loyal bird!

Relationships

Who you fall in love with is destined by fate. While we can plan for most aspect of our lives, when it comes to love the best made plans can fall to pieces. Often emotions take over and you find you are no longer in control. The heart wants what the heart wants and sometimes the heart gets what the heart wants, and yet relationships fail.

Sometimes the excitement is all in the chase and once the prize is won the excitement diminishes and complacency sets in. People begin taking each other for granted, passions wains…. Often times relationships fail because people don’t take the time to try to make it work. Like everything else, in order to be a success, relationships take work.

Today’s Positive Quote

“Never be too quick to judge another person’s situation and never say ‘That could never happen to me.’ The road of life has many twists and turns and sometimes the most unexpected things happen. No one is immune to life’s problems so show empathy for others because you just never know when you might need theirs.”
