Tears are Not Intended {By Don Beckman}

One morning not so long ago
When nothing turned out right,
A little bird paused on the sill
To rest from it’s long flight.
‘Oh little bird,’ I said, ‘I’m sad;
Although we’re deep in Spring,
The bluebells planted at my door
just simply will not ring.’
And then I knew how senseless
It was to fume and fret;
That I didn’t count my blessings
Was a cause for real regret.
For with the beauty all about,
Despite what day might bring,
I knew the birdlet’s song was true;
‘Why cry when you can sing?’

George Zimmerman

George Zimmerman has finally been charged with the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.  The incident took place more than a month ago.  Zimmerman will face charges of second degree murder.  One can only hope now for a fair trial and that justice will prevail.  Sadly enough at the end of the day their will be no winners, for a life that is lost can never be replaced, all one can hope for is closure.

Where is The Love and Equality

We see it all around us, everywhere we turn there are signs of violence and abuse.  It is in our homes, in the streets, in our schools, it is even in the churches.  Often times it is the person who has earned our trust who turns out to be the abuser.  Many of these people hide behind their titles and professions to prey on the innocent’

It is ironic, everyone enters this world a baby, seemingly innocent, in need of nurturing.  What make some grow up to be such monsters while others are not?  Was it something in their genes, lying there dormant waiting for the right moment to burst forth?  Or is it something learned from society,  from the environment in which these people grow up?

Many will quickly point out that kids that come from the ghetto are more likely to commit crime.  They try to convince you that crime is directly linked to poverty.  So the kids from the ghetto are constantly watched, nothing they do go unnoticed and they are always in the news.  The man in the jacket and tie who preys on the little girls and the little boys goes unnoticed, no one is watching him.  No one expects him to commit such a crime!

Society expect a course of action from one group of people and a different set of actions from another.  They refuse to accept the fact that there is good and bad in every single group in society.  It is all about people making choices.  People have a choice of doing what is right and what is wrong, some choose to do good while others choose to do bad things.  The person from the ghetto can choose to be a pedophile, the person from up town in jacket and tie can choose to be a pedophile.  Who is likely to be caught first?  My guess is that it is going to be the one from the ghetto, after all he is the one who is expected to commit crimes.  The point I am trying to make is people will commit crimes no matter from what background they may come from.  People need to choose to make the right choices.

Monday Night Raw

Brock Lesnar is back on Monday Night Raw and it seems he has a score to settle with John Cena.  The feud between The Rock and Cena was settled at Wrestlemania.  The focus therefore now shifts to Lesnar and Cena, both of whom have the fans rooting in their corner.  John Laurinaitis introduction of Brock was interrupted by Cena who entered the ring and slapped the man who had put him down with a vicious F-5 the previous week on Raw.  A brawl ensued which took  superstars from the locker room and the officials a couple of minutes to control.  At the end of it Cena was sporting a bloody mouth, yet seemed quite undaunted.  Well you could say things have gotten off to an interesting start leading up to Extreme Rules when both men will be facing each other.  In the next few weeks there will no doubt be a lot more confrontations between these two.  Who will come out victorious at Extreme Rules?  That we will all have to wait to see.

Alberto Del Rio who cheated to win his match against Sheamus last Friday on Smackdown was able to defeat Zack Rider this Monday on Raw.  Sheamus was so upset at the referee for making the wrong decision, that he super-kicked him.  It is not yet clear is disciplinary measures will be taken against Sheamus.

Cody Rhodes is getting a taste of his on medicine these days.  The big Show has turned the tables and he is now getting in Cody’s head.  Monday night he suffered yet another loss when he was defeated by R Truth.  Well Cody it seems what goes around comes around.

Can somebody please tell David Otunga he is not in the Mr. America Body Building Competition!  Well as it turned out all those muscles were no match for John Cena who with busted lip an all was able to get Otunga in a submission hold from which he had to tap out.  Cena however had no time to celebrated as he was attacked from behind with a low blow from Brock Lesnar.  Really now Brock that was kind of mean!

The Resurrection {By M. S. Lowndes}

THE RESURRECTION

We hold so close to our hearts
The cross where Jesus died
But so much more than the blood-stained cross
Is that Jesus came back to life

The stone’s been rolled away
The tomb lay open and bare
They looked for Him, and then the angel said
That He is no longer here

Oh what joy they must have felt
To see Him just once more
To eat with Him, to drink with Him
To receive Him back as Lord

So much did He accomplish
Through His death upon the cross
And in His rising from the dead
He reconciled us back to God

Nothing else could bridge the gap
That sin had wrenched apart
Now we can freely go to God
And receive Christ in our hearts

Friday Night Smackdown

John Laurinaitis is now General Manager of both Monday Night Raw and Friday Night Smackdown.  Not surprisingly he has started to abuse his power.  He offered Teddy Long a job then threatened to suspend his grandchildren education fund if he did not accept.  That is sinking a bit low.  Mess with the man all you want but when it comes to children’s education, you don’t mess with that.  He should be ashamed he even said that for the world to hear.  He is talking about people power, giving the people what they want but what he is displaying is Johnny’s power, getting even with the  people who supported Teddy Long.

He has already threatened C M Punk and tonight R Truth was his first victim on Friday Night Smackdown when he was placed in a handicap match with David Otunga and the world’s strongest man Mark Henry.  I do hope good sense will prevail and he will focus more on pleasing the people rather than pleasing himself.

Randy Orton redeemed himself after his loss at Wrestlemania by beating Kane in a No Disqualification Match.  It was a tough fight going back and forth but in the end Randy managed to pull off a RKO which won him the match.  No doubt Kane is going to want to return the favor.  We are going to see how this one goes.

Tonight Daniel Bryan displayed to the world that he really is a jerk.  I am not surprised that he blames AJ for his loss at Wrestlemania, sharing none of the blame himself.  As far as he was concerned it was all her fault. If he had won he of course would have taken full credit.  It comes as no surprise also that he would publicly humiliate her by dumping her in public, he never did care much about her in the first place, but calling her dead weight and shouting at her to get out of his ring?  That was taking it a bit far.

Big Show continued his winning streak by defeating Heath Slater.  He attempted a cat and mouse game with with Cody, however Cody got away.   Alberto De Rio returned to Friday Night Smackdown and was able to manipulated his way into winning the match causing Sheamus to lose his temper and attack the referee.  This of course will not go down well for Sheamus.

Good Friday

Today is Good Friday, a day we celebrate in remembrance of Christ dying on the cross to wipe away our sins and give us the hope of everlasting life.  As a young child growing up in the Catholic Church I had heard the Crucifixion story over and over again but I never really got the full understanding, or maybe I never paid much attention until I was about ten or eleven years old and read about it in St. Matthew.

Back then I was a very ardent reader and one Saturday not being able to find a book I had not already read, I picked up the bible and began reading St Matthew.  I read about Mary becoming pregnant with the young child, the birth of Jesus and how he grew up in Nazareth.  What I found fascinating was when Jesus began teaching and healing.  He was healing the sick, making the blind see, the deaf  hear and the lame walk.  I thought this is really a good person, He is doing all these great things!

When Jesus began to speaking of His death, I couldn’t understand why anyone would want to betray Him or kill such a good person.  I remember the part where He went into the Garden Of Gethsemane to pray and the disciples kept falling asleep and I kept thinking, He is always there for them and now when He needs them, they can’t stay awake.

I remember how Judas betrayed Him and how Peter denied Him three times,  just as He had predicted.  When they brought Him before Pilate, he could find nothing wrong with Him and I thought, surely they wouldn’t put an innocent man to die?  By now I was so caught up in the story that everything seemed real.  I t was as if it was happening right there  and then and I was witnessing everything.  It seemed as if I had gone back in time and these thing were happening right in front of my eyes.

When Pilate asked the people if they would have him release to them Barnabas or Jesus, they shouted for him to release Barnabas.  I felt so disappointed, I was so sure they would have chosen Jesus, but no, they wanted Him to be crucified.  It was then that I began pleading with God.  I remember saying ”You really not going to let them kill Him?”  I said “Look what He did for these people and now they want to kill Him.  You going to let Him die for these people?  They don’t deserve it!   I smile sometimes when I remember that.  Little did I realize back then that He was dying for my sins too!

By this time I was literally crying as I read how they mocked Him, spat on Him, struck Him on the head and when He asked for water, they gave Him vinegar to drink.  I thought these people are so wicked, couldn’t they just give Him some water?  When He gave up the ghost, I felt sad to know that He was dead.

Then I read about Mary going to the tomb and finding it empty.  When He appeared to His disciples I realized that He was no longer dead.  He had risen!  I found myself laughing and crying at the same time and I recall saying ” Wretch them, the think them was going to kill Him and Him was going to stay dead!”   I had this experience many years ago but I still remember it like it was yesterday!

Here is a poem about the crucifixion.  I am not quite sure who this poem but I hope you enjoy it.

He Was Crucified

I remember the day he was crucified
The cross stood bold on the hillside.
The nails stood out, and on the cross there He was.
The crowd gathered around as I watched Him.
HE WAS IN PAIN!
His eyes were red and blood shot, His body was limp.
The high pitched screams were like tormented demons they deafened our ears.
They stunned us as He suffers.
The people scourged Him; they cursed Him they spat on Him; they teased Him.
The even filled His mouth with vinegar.
WHAT A SET!
I watched death fall upon Him.
The shadow came closer, and then
AS IF HIS SOUL WAS TORN FROM HIM.
HE SCREAMED!
The spasm of pain tormented His soul.
HE SCREAMED AGAIN!
And then………… He was silent.
I still remember Him, but what can I do?
When He is now dead after He was crucified

Good Friday

Tomorrow many Christians around the world will celebrate  Good Friday in remembrance of how Jesus Christ came down from Heaven to earth and died on the cross for our sins in order that we all can have everlasting life if we serve him and live according to his commandments.  One of the things that Jesus taught during his time on earth was ‘Love’.   Loving ourselves and loving one another.  Love is so much lacking in the world today and it is part of the reason that there is so much violence, so much killings, so much disregard for human life.  People kill one another as if it is no big deal; having no understanding of what it is to love.  Where there is love there is understanding, there is forgiveness, there is the desire to protect the ones you love.  Where there is no love the exact opposite happens.  Unless we have love for one another there will never truly be peace in this world.  Jesus taught about love and forgiveness.  How many of us live by those rules?  He who was without sin loved us so much that he gave his life for us.  Can we love one another enough so we can stop killing each other?   Let this be a time to reflect;  to give thanks to God for sending his son to die on the cross for us.  Let us make the changes necessary in our lives and start loving one another.  A blessed Good Friday to everyone.
