Happy Mother’s Day
A Very Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers around the world biological or otherwise. To the fathers who are raising their children singlehandedly I salute you too. As we celebrate this momentous occasion let us remember the Nigerian mother’s whose children were viciously snatched from them. For them today is a vivid reminder that there children are not where they should be. It is hard for a mother not to know whether or not her child is safe. Prayers can move mountains so let us keep them in our prayers today.
Have Faith
Wipe away your tears, hold your head up and smile,
There are brighter days ahead despite the dark clouds.
Have faith and believe that you will receive an answer
to your prayer.
Do not give in to fear and doubts for with God all things
are possible of that you can be sure.
Lay all your problems at his feet and he will make them right.

Indifference
The silence between them is profound
She yearns so much
for a hug from him
or just a gentle touch.
But he turns away and she feels frozen
by the coldness he displays.
Feelings of love unrequited
hits her like a mountain waves.
She would do anything
if this relationship she could save.
His phone rings, he answers it and smiles,
“I am going to meet Sam for a drink,” he says
But of course she knows he lies.
“I know about her,” she says.
He looks at her and there is no surprise in his eyes,
He offers no ostentatious words of denial.
Unperturbed by his betrayal
“Don’t wait up for me,” he says.
His words cut her like a knife

than his cold indifference.
A Moment of Reflection
Life is what you make it and if you are not satisfied with the life you are living that it is up to you to try and do something about it. Some people go through life like a breeze. For others it is a daily struggle. There are so many negative factors trying to drag you down. You have to try and keep your sanity and your head afloat so you do not find yourself drowning in the problems that life throws at you.
You may be dissatisfied with your job. You may be dissatisfied with the way your relationship is going. You may have children who disrespect you and friends who betray you. That is just one side of the coin. On the other hand you may have a job that you love, a man who respects you and children who adore you. You may also have friends who will stand by you and have your back when you need their help.
The thing is, in life we wont always have it all. So we have to count our blessings and be thankful for what we have. We are not going to have sunshine all the time. There are going to be those cloudy days. We are not going to have it good all the time for there are times when problems will come along. We have to take it all in stride and remember that although life may not be always perfect it is the more precious gift we have and we should cherish every moment of it.
Women Respect Yourselves
We talk about women rights and we say that men should show more respect to women. However it is apparent that some women have no respect for themselves. Some feel there is nothing wrong with stripping or selling their bodies. They feel it is okay to do these things to make a living. Of course this type of behavior is nothing new; the difference is that in times past women engaged in these activities would keep it a secret from their friends and family. Now it is as if it is something to brag about.
The thing is that society is accepting and rewarding this kind of behavior and therefore women feel it is not something to be ashamed of anymore. Porn stars are becoming celebrities so what’s the big deal? But does this make it okay? Maybe given all the publicity young girls now think it is okay. There is s case of a young woman who came to this country to attend college. She started college but have dropped out and now she is working as a stripper. She keep posting about her newly found profession on face book. It is as if she has gotten a degree and she wants the world to know about it.
Recently there was a video by Justin Timberlake on YouTube. In this video called ‘Tunnel Vision’ there were girls performing in the nude. They were naked while he remained fully clothed throughout the video. The video was banned briefly from YouTube but is now back on it. I see no reason for nudity is this video but as long as women put themselves out there as commodities which can be bought these kind of things will continue to happen.
Women if you want to get respect it has to begin with you respecting yourselves. Stop allowing men to use you in this kind of degrading manner because of the end of the day they will consider you cheap and they will have no respect for you. You have the power to say I will take part in your video but I will not degrade myself and I will not strip. In Times Square on the fourth of July two women were seen in wearing nothing but body paint. Was this really necessary? There is a time and a place for everything. Women if you want men to respect you start respecting yourselves! You are not commodities; therefore do not give men the impression that you can be bought!
