Thought for Today

WordPress New Reader

As most of you would have noticed by now there have been changes in the Reader on WordPress. I was having difficult navigating it since it seemed more complicated that the previous one until I figured it out. On each post in the reader there is an icon – three little dots in the upper right hand corner. When you click on it there is a list where you can see Follow, Visit Site, Block Site Or Report Site. You can access any one of the site in the reader from here with just one click. This makes so much more sense. It is simple and it is quick. In fact it is much easier to get to the sites than before. Thanks WordPress.

Life is often so uncertain and while we are here we got to make the most of it. We have to take control of our happiness and make every moment count. Here is my quote I want to share with you today. You owe it to yourself…

“You’ve gotta dance like there’s nobody watching,
Love like you’ll never be hurt,
Sing like there’s nobody listening,
And live like it’s heaven on earth.”
William W. Purkey

The Trouble Tree

It seems like just yesterday we were wishing in the new year now we are in the month of June…already half way through the year. So much has happened both good and bad. Many have departed this earth…some by untimely death. Even if our lives aren’t perfect we have a lot to be thankful for. Not matter what our trouble always try to see the brighter side of life.

I came across the story and I thought I would share it…

THE TROUBLE TREE

The carpenter I hired to help me restore an old farmhouse had just finished a rough first day on the job. A flat tire made him lose an hour of work, his electric saw quit, and now his ancient pickup truck refused to start. While I drove him home, he sat in stony silence.

On arriving, he invited me in to meet his family. As we walked toward the front door, he paused briefly at a small tree, touching the tips of the branches with both hands. When opening the door he underwent an amazing transformation. His tanned face was wreathed in smiles and he hugged his two small children and gave his wife a kiss.

Afterward he walked me to the car. We passed the tree and my curiosity got the better of me. I asked him about what I had seen him do earlier.

“Oh, that’s my trouble tree,” he replied.” I know I can’t help having troubles on the job, but one thing’s for sure, troubles don’t belong in the house with my wife and the children. So I just hang them on the tree every night when I come home. Then in the morning I pick them up again.”

He paused. “Funny thing is,” he smiled, “when I come out in the morning to pick ’em up, there ain’t nearly as many as I remember hanging up the night before.”

Thought For Today

The majority of people have successfully alienated themselves from change; they tediously arrange their lives into a familiar pattern, they give themselves to normalcy, they are proud if they are able to follow in auspicious footsteps set before them, they take pride in always coloring inside the lines and they feel secure if they belong to a batch of others who are like them. Now, if familiar patterns bore you, if normalcy passes before you unnoticed, if you want to create your own footsteps in the earth and leave your own handprints on the skies, if you are the one who doesn’t mind the lines in the coloring book as much as others do, and perchance you do not cling to a flock for you to identify with, then you must be ready for adversity. If you are something extraordinary, you are going to always shock others and while they go about existing in their mundaneness which they call success, you’re going to be flying around crazy in their skies and that scares them. People are afraid of change, afraid of being different, afraid of doing things and thinking things that aren’t a part of their checkerboard game of a life. They only know the pieces and the moves in their games, and that’s it. You’re always going to find them in the place that you think you’re going to find them in, and every time they think about you, you’re going to give them a heart attack.

Take Control of Your Happiness

The mistake many of us make is to expect someone to come into our lives and make us happy. The key to happiness is to realize that no owes us any obligation to make us happy. We must take control over our lives and do not rely too  heavily on someone else for happiness. Often after a breakup people hold on to the hurt and pain of the failed relationship. Unhappiness becomes a way of life and there is no moving forward.

We have to understand that people will disappoint us, they will betray and hurt us. But we must refuse to let them take our joy. Promise yourself that you will choose happiness in spite of situations that are beyond your control. Trust God and know that he will not allow the person who cause you pain to live happily ever after while you live in misery.

You know this brings to memory something which happened some years ago. There was this man who was with his girlfriend since they were back in high school. She bore him four children. He left her when their last child was about four months old and married another woman. He said she was making him not able to save any money. He kept making babies…what did he expect.

Any way he went on with his new life with the christian woman he had married taking better care of her two children than he was taking care of his own children. I guess happily ever after was all he saw on horizon. However it was not long after…maybe a year when he got in trouble at work  He got fired from his job and attempted suicide. My point is you cannot expect to live a happy life by causing pain to others. What you give is what you will eventually receive.  So Live, Love, Forgive and be Happy.

Small Penis Competition

Did you know there is a Small Penis Competition? Oh yes there is. The Small Penis in Brooklyn Pageant  is scheduled to take place  at Brooklyn’s Kings County Saloon in Bushwick, on June 13. Competitors will strip down and display their genitals through underwear and swimsuits at the competition. The winner of the smallest penis will win a prize of $500, a crown and a sash. The organizers apparently are having difficulty finding contestants.  Surprised????

Three Kernels of Corn

corn corn on the cob corn kernels

Three young men were once given three kernels of corn apiece by a wise old sage, who admonished them to go out into the world, and use the corn to bring themselves good fortune. The first young man put his three kernels of corn into a bowl of hot broth and ate them.

The second thought, I can do better than that, and he planted his three kernels of corn. Within a few months, he had three stalks of corn. He took the ears of corn from the stalks, boiled them, and had enough corn for three meals.

The third man said to himself, I can do better than that!
He also planted his three kernels of corn, but when his three stalks of corn produced, he stripped one of the stalks and replanted all of the seeds in it, gave the second stalk of corn to a sweet maiden, and ate the third.

His one full stalk’s worth of replanted corn kernels gave him 200 stalks of corn! And the kernels of these he continued to replant, setting aside only a bare minimum to eat. He eventually planted a hundred acres of corn. With his fortune, he not only won the hand of the sweet maiden but purchased the land owned by the sweet maiden’s father.
And he never hungered again.
