Since the start of June areas in New York as well as other parts of the country has been plagued by the incessant noise of fireworks. Why anyone would spend money to create a noise nuisance in their community defies all logic.

No one stops to question who benefits from the sale of these fireworks and who has to suffer sleepless nights because of the noise. No one thinks about the effect the fumes released might have on the general population. Given that we are still fighting coronavirus, the last thing we need are toxic wastes that may create respiratory complications for the vulnerable.

Some say it is a release after months of lock down. Some say it’s defiance against the police. I call it an act of stupidity. You are inadvertently burning money and causing distress for people in your community in the process. No one benefits. If you are not contributing to the betterment of your community then you are a part of the problem. Stupidity is contagious. The way forward is to think consciously and spend wisely. Money is power and fools have difficulty keeping it. To those involved I urge you all to stop the stupid fireworks and find a way to uplift yourself.
