Thought for Today

Don’t lose yourself trying to live up to the expectations of others. Never for one moment believe that you have to live by their rules. Don’t buy into that belief that some people are more important than others. We all have a purpose on this earth although we play different roles. The defining point is that we are all ‘mortal man’ subjected to the same rules of nature. From the dust we all came and to the dust one day we will return.

A Thought for Today

Mediocrity is a killer of success. If you are easily satisfied with little you will never achieve much!

A Thought for Today

You may be at a crossroad in your life where your hopes and expectations still seem a far way from being achieved. You may wonder why it is taking you so long, why the journey has been so difficult. The important thing is to keep your eyes on the goal, never lose focus and never give up. (Marva Seaton)

Thought for Today

Life is like a story book intricately woven with many twists and turns. But unlike a storybook it is more complex, more unpredictable. In a storybook you get to know all the characters and you know how the story ends. In life it is unpredictable about who we will encounter and we cannot guarantee how our story will end. The key is to live a life that others can emulate and look up to. When you are gone from this earth let it be said that this person came, lived, showed love and made a difference. (Marva Seaton)

Thought For Today

You only have this life to live once. Don’t spend it worrying about what could have been, who hurt you and who wasn’t loyal. The power of happiness is in your hands. Yours is the choice to make. So cast aside anything or anyone that takes away from your happiness. While you still have this life, be happy!

“You can’t hang around waiting for somebody else to pull your strings. Destiny’s what you make of it. You have to face whatever life throws at you. And if it throws more than you’d like, more than you think you can handle? Well then you just have to find the heroism within yourself and play out the hand you’ve been dealt. The universe never sets a challenge that can’t be met. You just need to believe in yourself in order to find the strength to face it.”  ― Darren Shan

Thought For Today

“We have to allow ourselves to be loved by the people who really love us, the people who really matter. Too much of the time, we are blinded by our own pursuits of people to love us, people that don’t even matter, while all that time we waste and the people who do love us have to stand on the sidewalk and watch us beg in the streets! It’s time to put an end to this. It’s time for us to let ourselves be loved.”

Thought For Today

“Responsibility to yourself means refusing to let others do your thinking, talking, and naming for you…it means that you do not treat your body as a commodity with which to purchase superficial intimacy or economic security; for our bodies to be treated as objects, our minds are in mortal danger. It means insisting that those to whom you give your friendship and love are able to respect your mind. It means being able to say, with Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre: “I have an inward treasure born with me, which can keep me alive if all the extraneous delights should be withheld or offered only at a price I cannot afford to give.
Responsibility to yourself means that you don’t fall for shallow and easy solutions–predigested books and ideas…marrying early as an escape from real decisions, getting pregnant as an evasion of already existing problems. It means that you refuse to sell your talents and aspirations short…and this, in turn, means resisting the forces in society which say that women should be nice, play safe, have low professional expectations, drown in love and forget about work, live through others, and stay in the places assigned to us. It means that we insist on a life of meaningful work, insist that work be as meaningful as love and friendship in our lives. It means, therefore, the courage to be “different”…The difference between a life lived actively, and a life of passive drifting and dispersal of energies, is an immense difference. Once we begin to feel committed to our lives, responsible to ourselves, we can never again be satisfied with the old, passive way.”
