Thought for Today

I am determined to be cheerful and happy despite my circumstances. The law of attraction dictates that whatever you gravitate towards is what you will most likely end up getting. Therefore if you want positive results rid yourself of a negative mind.

G.W. Carver

The first step towards success is taken when you refuse to be a captive of the environment in which you first find yourself.

Beginning today treat everyone you meet as if they were going to be dead by midnight. Extend to them all the care, kindness and understanding you can muster and do it with no thought of any reward. Your life will never be the same again. (Og Mandino)
This quote is one by which we should all try to live. Kudos to Germany for taking in the Syrian refugees. It warmed my heart and brought tears to my eyes to see hundreds welcomed in Germany after the long walk from Budapest. It is heartbreaking to see what these people are going through as they try to flee war strikened Syria. The body of that little boy washed up on a beach after the overcrowded boat that they were in sank is forever etched in my memory. So many have lost their lives trying to escape. I pray that all those who can help will continue to welcome these refugees with open arms and hearts.
I came across this news story recently and was appalled and disgusted that
Men in India have so little respect for the women there that they would
see rape as justifiable punishment.
The sisters were sentenced by elders of a village council to be raped
after their brother had an affair and ran off with a married woman.
For women in India rape is a part of their culture and rapes occur daily.
After much protest in India and the intervention of Amnesty International
the village council has since denied making the ruling.
The question still remains, how long will the Government of India
continue to allow women to be raped, abused and murdered without
doing anything to protect them.

Know today that you are unique in your own way. You might not be everybody’s normal and that’s okay. Be yourself and embrace who you are.
“Maybe she needs to buy a different kind of detergent. I should go and teach her how to wash them properly.” Every few days, she muttered the same thing to her husband with disdain while watching her neighbor hanging out the dirty laundry in the early-morning light.
A month passed, and one day the young wife was surprised to see that her neighbor was hanging out perfectly clean sheets. She exclaimed to her husband, “Look! She finally learned to wash her clothes. I wonder who taught her how.”
The husband replied, “Well, in reality, darling, the only difference is that I got up early this morning and cleaned the window.
