Merry Christmas

My fellow bloggers I wish for you and your families a Very Merry Christmas. This is a time of giving and receiving of sharing and caring. Let this day also be one of giving thanks to God for sending his only begotten who came on earth to die for our sins.  May the spirit of Christmas find a place in your hearts and in your homes. May peace and Love abide. Love you all and happy blogging!

Government Shutdown

The government shutdown has entered its second week with both parties failing to reach an agreement that will end the shutdown.  It is sad that this has dragged on for so long.  Obama Care is at the heart of the problem and the Republicans are prepared to continue with the shut down because of their opposition to this health care plan. At the end of the day there will be winners and losers.  The question is who stand to lose the most?  This is Obama’s second term in office; he will not seek re-election. The Republicans on the other hand will seek to head the next government.  Will the voting public see their present course of actions justified and in the best interest of the country.  Will they be able to convince the thousands of men and women who are at this moment unsure of their pay checks to vote for them.

There are thousands of people who presently have no form of health insurance and see Obama Care as their only hope of getting insured.  Will the Republicans be able to convince these people that they acted in their best interest and get their votes?  The Republicans need to be careful that come the next election their present actions do not come back to bite them in the ass.

R.I.P. Father Brown

Charles Brown

On Wednesday of last week retired Roman Catholic priest Father Charles Brown went missing.  On Thursday his abandoned vehicle was found in the Plantation Heights area in St. Andrew.  A search was launched for the missing priest who was last seen dressed in multicolored short sleeve shirt, blue pants and a pair of black shoes.

Today Monday July 29, Police Investigators report that they have found a decomposing body in Plantation Heights strongly believed to be that of Father Brown.  In is really sad that someone who has served his communities so well should have been treated in this manner.  Given the circumstances surrounding his death my conclusion is that Father Brown was just another victim of crime.  Another person killed and left by the wayside to rot.  This is a case of yet another senseless killing!  When will it end, or better yet will it ever end?

Father Brown was a very straight forward, honest and caring man who did not deserve to die in this manner.  May his soul Rest in Peace.

To the perpetrator or perpetrators of this crime I say to you, you  can

run but you cannot hide.  God knows who you are and you will be rewarded according to your deeds.

Sleep Well Father Charles Brown.  You are gone but you will never be forgotten!

The Paula Deen Saga

I have been following with interest the whole Paula Deen Saga as it unfolded.  The impression I have formed is that clearly this is a woman who characterize people in terms of the color of their skin.  She was perhaps raised in a culture where black people were only seen as servants and although time has evolved she has remained stuck in the past.

Even if she had used the N word a long time ago, the fact that Ms Deen should even consider the idea of  having what she called a plantation style wedding for her brother where the serving staff would consist of black men dressed in white jackets and bow ties clearly illustrates that she is still living in the plantation days.  It was no big deal to call blacks the N word and make jokes about them back then because it was considered okay.  I do not get the feeling that Ms Deen is comfortable around blacks and that she feels they are her equal and because of this it is extremely difficult to apologize and sound genuine doing it.

It is not surprising that her apologies have not gone down well with a lot of people. The apologies did not seem to come from the heart and there were nothing in the words she spoke that gave one the impression that she was genuinely sorry.  She should have nipped the tree in the bud from the moment she admitted to the world that she had made racial slurs.  Instead of her weak apologies she should have come out with a strong apology and say it like said really meant it

I am no expert at apologies but maybe her apology could have read something like this:

I know that a lot of people are displeased with me and they have every right to be.  I was raised to be honest and take responsibility for my actions.  I admit that I did use racial slurs many many years ago and for this I am truly sorry.  I apologize to everyone I’ve hurt by my unacceptable behavior.  I should have known better and I should never have used those words.  It is wrong to make jokes about people because of the color of their skin or their racial background.  To all whom I have offended I am truly sorry and I hope you will find in in your heart to forgive me.  I ask for a second chance to make amends to all whom I have hurt by my insensitive words and actions.  Please accept my sincere apologies and I humbly ask again for your forgiveness.

What she has done so far was to try and convince people that she is not a racist and that she is a good person.  That was not what people wanted to hear.  They wanted a sincere apology.

Ironically the person who started all of this by bringing a racial discrimination suit against Paula Deen is in fact white.  It is interesting to note that the action of one person can bring about the fall of an empire.  Ms Deen worked hard over the years to build her empire and it a matter of days her great empire turned into a sinking titanic and everyone is rushing to get off board.  No one is willing to go down with a sinking ship!

The Food Network was the first to get off board by not renewing her contract.  Since then other companies have cut ties with her, among them are: JCPenny, Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Smithfield Foods, Caesar Entertainment and Random House has cancelled the publication of her new book.

Do I believe Paula Deen deserves the harsh punishment being meted out to her?  Probably not.  At the same time I understand why the businesses did what they did.  They understand something that up to now I don’t believe Ms Deen has fully grasped and that is, in business people are important irrespective of you ethnicity or racial background, they need the support of them all.  Another valuable lesson learned is that friendship does not take priority in business.  When situations like these arise people are going to do what is best for business, who know she probably might have done the same.

Todd Coontz *Minister or Trickster?*

It is not often that I touch on the topic of so-called preachers who use the pulpit to con people out of their money.  Todd Coontz apparently has a group of followers whom he has managed to brain wash over the years.  The sole purpose of his broadcasts is to get money out of them by whatever means necessary.
Those of you who listen to his broadcasts and are still sending him money have you ever heard him talking about anyone receiving any of the miracles he preaches about except for himself?  I have never heard a testimony of anyone who has benefited from sowing these faith seeds except for Todd Coontz himself.  Food for thoughts don’t you think?
Every broadcast is skillfully designed to convince people to send him money.  Wake up people no one is receiving any of the miracles he is preaching about except him.  God is not telling him to tell you to send him money.  Why would God do that?  He is  not even preaching the words of God.  Every broadcast is about money and the blessings that he Todd Coontz has received.
“FedEx comes to my house weekly,” he says.  He says FedEx comes to his house so often he gets excited every time he sees a FedEx truck.  He says he not only receives through FedEx but UPS as well and that he has never had so much financial blessings before as he has had in the last twenty-four months.  I guess the number of people sending him money have increased significantly.
Why isn’t any of the people who are sending him their money receiving any of the FedEx or UPS deliveries?  If they are I don’t hear him talking about it.  According to his preaching he is the only one I hear receiving any of the financial blessing he is promising.  He wants people to send him money, that is the whole purpose of his broadcasts.  It is not about God!  It has never been about God!  It is all about money!  Every time you send him money he receives a miracle, he not you.  But then what does he care, he says his miracles are not for every one so I suppose if you have no money or credit card you won’t qualify for one anyway.
May the Lord open the eyes and ears of those who continue to allow themselves to be deceived!

2012 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 2,500 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 4 years to get that many views.

Doomsday 2012

Doomsday has come and gone and we are still here.  We have celebrated Christmas and Boxing Day without any disruption.  The world has not ended!!  Can we now all agree that the ending of the Mayan calendar had nothing to do with the end of time?  Now that doomsday is behind us we must now focus on living and believing the words of  the bible which says “No man knows the time nor the hour”  Man have being predicting the end of the world time after time and it has not come to pass.  This is because the words of the bible is the real truth and everything else is a lie!

Merry Christmas

My fellow bloggers and friends, today we celebrate Christmas in remembrance of the fact that God so loved the world that He sent his only begotten son.  Jesus came not to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved.

This Christmas let us take a special time out to comfort those who mourn, lend a helping hand to those in need and share what we have with those who are less fortunate.  May the joy of Christmas find its way into every home and may everyone be of good cheer.  A Happy and Peaceful Christmas to everyone!!

A Season of Joy or a Season of Mourning?

This should be a season of goodwill.  Joy to the world, peace to men on earth, but the season is anything but joyful or peaceful.  While the people of Newton Connecticut are still trying to come to terms with the shooting deaths of twenty children and seven adults, in other parts of the world the senseless killings continues.

In Pakistan six health workers on a polio eradication campaign were shot dead.  Polio is an infectious disease which can cause permanent paralysis in a matter of hours.  There is the need for safe and effective vaccines to protect children from the disease which according to the WHO, is currently endemic in Afghanistan, Nigeria and Pakistan.

Four female health workers were reportedly shot dead in Karachi on Tuesday.  Two were killed after administering vaccination to children.  Two other women were shot while going from house to house giving vaccination in Peshawar.  Police official Javed Khan said the gunmen opened fire on the women as they left a house where they had vaccinated children.
