Refugee Crisis

As we go about enjoying this beautiful and peaceful Sunday let us keep those fleeing for their lives in our thoughts. Today I learned that another boat with immigrant sunk off the Greek Island of Lesbos. Fourteen people are feared dead including a five year-old child. Let’s say a word of prayer for them. So much turmoil in the world…if only we as humans had the capacity to love one another, what a difference it would make.

Pope’s Visit

Pope Francis visit to the United States next week will be a historic one.

Many people are waiting with excited anticipation for the Pope’s visit.

Let’s hope that good will prevail and that his visit will be incident free.

INSPIRATIONAL STORY

Wet Pants

A nine-year-old was kid sitting at his desk when suddenly there is a puddle between his feet and the front of his pants are wet. He thinks his heart is going to stop because he cannot possibly imagine how this has happened. It’s never happened before, and he knows that when the boys find out he will never hear the end of it. When the girls find out, they’ll never speak to him again as long as he lives.

The boy believes his heart is going to stop; he puts his head down and prays this prayer, “Dear God, this is an emergency! I need help now! Five minutes from now I’m dead meat”

He looks up from his prayer and here comes the teacher with a look in her eyes that says he has been discovered.

As the teacher is walking toward him, a classmate named Susie is carrying a goldfish bowl that is filled with water. Susie trips in front of the teacher and inexplicably dumps the bowl of water in the boy’s lap. The boy pretends to be angry, but all the while is saying to himself, “Thank you, Lord! Thank you, Lord!”

Now all of a sudden, instead of being the object of ridicule, the boy is the object of sympathy. The teacher rushes him downstairs and gives him gym short to put on while his pants dry out. All the other children are on their hands and knees cleaning up around his desk. The sympathy is wonderful. But as life would have it, the ridicule that should have been his has been transferred to someone else – Susie.

She tries to help, but they tell her to get out. “You’ve done enough, you klutz!”

Finally, at the end of the day, as they are waiting for the bus, the boy walks over to Susie and whispers, “You did that on purpose, didn’t you?”

Susie whispers back, “I wet my pants once too.”

God sometimes answers prayers in a mysterious way.

Message Gone Wrong

In a recent video Amber Rose sought to send a message about slut shaming. I believe she was trying to say men had one night stand so women should not be ashamed to admit to having a one night stand too. However the execution of this message is –putting it mildly – horrible. First of all having a one night stand by either sexes is nothing to be proud of or to promote. Secondly having a child as a part of this video taking part in adult discussion is just plain wrong. This is not a good message to send to this little boy. In part of the video which is missing from the clip below a man cheers her on and said “Amber you are an inspiration to my daughter.” My head is still reeling from that one…so are you saying it is okay for your daughter to have one night stands? This video is a part of what is wrong in this world.

Sometimes a Clock is Just a Clock

How sad it is that fear and distrust caused a fourteen year-old boy’s invention of a clock to become the subject of his arrest. Although he did nothing wrong instead of an apology his school slapped him with a suspension. How interesting it is that we can look at the same object and see different things. However at the end of the day sometimes things are what they appear to be and sometimes a clock is just a clock.

Governor Cuomo Aide Dies


Forty-three year old Carey Gabay who was caught in the middle of a Brooklyn gun fight and got shot in the head on Sept 7 died on Wednesday. This is an unfortunate tragedy and a direct result of too many guns in the wrong hands. How many more innocent people will have to die before there are tougher gun laws? How longer will there continue to be talk and no action?

Kanye West Fashion Collection

I heard of people being upset about Kanye West recent fashion collection and didn’t understand why until I saw some of the pieces. The Zombie Collection would have been an appropriate name for what I saw and I cannot image how those models must have felt wearing them. Some looked like crazy homeless people…no disrespect to those people. Hey but why am I blabbering about it. I am sure a lot of people are only going to be too willing to fork out hundreds of dollars to buy these hideous pieces.

2016 Presidential Election

Who Will Run for president?

It is early days yet in the election campaign and I believe we are going to have many more interesting days ahead. The question in many people’s mind is who will run for president from the Republican and the Democrats. I doubt that the two front runners on each side will be the ones running for the presidency. Instead I believe Hilary will be blindsided and we have either Sanders of Biden running for the Democrats and Ben Carson running for the Republicans. Unless of course Trump stops acting like the loose cannon he is and tones it down. Either way I don’t believe Hilary will get the Democratic ticket.

Crisis in Syria

I was thinking about the crisis in Syria and thought how ironic that the situation there took such a nasty turn. It started with the people’s dissatisfaction with the then government . They were protesting for change and better leadership. However what they now have is not what they bargained for. It is as if the gates of hell opened up and the devils within unleashed on them.

Everywhere across Syria there is destruction and ruins. Hundreds of thousand have been displaced losing their home and everything they own. Over two hundred and twenty thousand have lost their lives and there is no end in sight to the civil war. How did the people’s desire for change turn into something so horrible?
