Thought For Today

In a world of bitter, disgruntled people we have to find a common ground. You might not love everyone you come in  contact with but it is possible for us all to co-exist. We must stop focusing on the faults of others and remember that none of us are perfect. Treat people with kindness and respect and remember that the good you do will come back right to you. Be mindful also that if you do wrong to others you will reap a bitter harvest. As the saying goes ‘you reap what you sow’. Have a blessed day and speak peace to those you come in contact with today.

A Thought for Today

You’ve got this life and while you’ve got it, you’d better kiss like you only have one moment, try to hold someone’s hand like you will never get another chance to, look into people’s eyes like they’re the last you’ll ever see, watch someone sleeping like there’s no time left, jump if you feel like jumping, run if you feel like running, play music in your head when there is none, and eat cake like it’s the only one left in the world!

CHOOSE LOVE OVER HATE

“When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it–always.
Mahatma Gandhi

Evil will raise it’s ugly head and hatred may seem to win but good will win over evil and love will prevail. Let us stand in solidarity with the people of South Carolina. With love we shall overcome evil. With LOVE WE SHALL CONQUER HATE!

Thought For Today

“We have to allow ourselves to be loved by the people who really love us, the people who really matter. Too much of the time, we are blinded by our own pursuits of people to love us, people that don’t even matter, while all that time we waste and the people who do love us have to stand on the sidewalk and watch us beg in the streets! It’s time to put an end to this. It’s time for us to let ourselves be loved.”

Thought For Today

“Responsibility to yourself means refusing to let others do your thinking, talking, and naming for you…it means that you do not treat your body as a commodity with which to purchase superficial intimacy or economic security; for our bodies to be treated as objects, our minds are in mortal danger. It means insisting that those to whom you give your friendship and love are able to respect your mind. It means being able to say, with Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre: “I have an inward treasure born with me, which can keep me alive if all the extraneous delights should be withheld or offered only at a price I cannot afford to give.
Responsibility to yourself means that you don’t fall for shallow and easy solutions–predigested books and ideas…marrying early as an escape from real decisions, getting pregnant as an evasion of already existing problems. It means that you refuse to sell your talents and aspirations short…and this, in turn, means resisting the forces in society which say that women should be nice, play safe, have low professional expectations, drown in love and forget about work, live through others, and stay in the places assigned to us. It means that we insist on a life of meaningful work, insist that work be as meaningful as love and friendship in our lives. It means, therefore, the courage to be “different”…The difference between a life lived actively, and a life of passive drifting and dispersal of energies, is an immense difference. Once we begin to feel committed to our lives, responsible to ourselves, we can never again be satisfied with the old, passive way.”

The Cure For Hate

Mankind search for the cure for diseases but I say wouldn’t it be great if we found the cure for hate. It is not a disease yet it is so contagious. It rips apart families and lives with a vengeance. Hate knows no compassion. It knows no sense of right or wrong. It creates sadness and pain, it take lives. Those who inflict grief on others because of hate do not seem to understand that every time you take the life of another you do something wrong.

I wish there was a pill those who hate could take to make their hatred go away. I wish there was a vaccine that could give immunity to hate. Wives, mothers, sisters, brothers, men and women at sometime or another have felt the sting of hate. Hate causes mankind to build weapons of destruction and hate forces them to war. They fight and kill each other not realizing that the answer for harmony is love.

Some are so busy hating they after a while they lack the capacity to love. They spew out hate and love diminishes until all they have left is hate. So they treat others the only way they know…with hate! If we could have a no hate day just one day when every man on earth would treat each other with love maybe then mankind would understand the what the world need most is love. Yes I know I am dreaming but it is a nice dream.

“Have you had a kindness shown? Pass it on;
‘Twas not given for thee alone, Pass it on;
Let it travel down the years,
Let it wipe another’s tears.
Pass it on.”

Desiderata– by Max Ehrmann

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender,
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even to the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons;
they are vexatious to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain or bitter,
for always, there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs,
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals,
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love,
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore, be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life,
keep peace in your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.
