POEM

A Creed

Let me be a little kinder,
Let me be a little blinder
To the faults of those around me,
Let me praise a little more;
Let me be, when I am weary
Just a little bit more cheery,
Let me serve a little better
Those that I am striving for.

Let me be a little braver
When temptation bids me waver,
Let me strive a little harder
To be all that I should be;
Let me be a little meeker
With the brother that is weaker,
Let me think more of my neighbor
And a little less of me.

Let me be a little sweeter,
Make my life a bit completer
By doing what I should do
Every minute of the day;
Let me toil, without complaining,
Not a humble task disdaining,
Let me face the summons calmly
When death beckons me away.

Inspirational Story

There was a blind girl who hated herself because she was blind. She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend who was always there for her. She told her boyfriend, ‘If I could only see the World, I will marry you.’

One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her. When the bandages came off, she was able to see everything, including her boyfriend.

He asked her,’Now that you can see the world, will you marry Me?’ The girl looked at her boyfriend and saw that he was blind.

The sight of his closed eyelids shocked her. She hadn’t expected that, and the thought of looking at them the rest of her life led Her to refuse to marry him.

Her boyfriend left in tears and days later wrote a note to her that said:

‘Take good care of your eyes, my dear, for before they Were yours, they were mine.’

An Inspirational Story

His Good Will

Many years ago, a ten-year-old boy approached the soda counter and climbed onto a stool to ask the busy waitress, “What does an ice cream sundae cost?”

“Fifty cents,” she answered.

The boy pulled out an assortment of change and counted it carefully as the busy waitress looked right and left at other customers she had to wait upon.

“Well how much would just plain ice cream be?” he asked.

“Thirty-five cents” she replied curtly.

Again the boy counted his money. “May I have a plain ice cream in a dish, please?” He gave the waitress the thirty-five cents and she brought him the ice cream.

Later, the waitress returned to clear the boy’s dish and when she picked it up, she discovered two nickels and five pennies. The waitress smiled tenderly as she realized that the boy had enough money for the sundae, but settled for plain vanilla so he could leave her a gratuity for her service.

Thought For Today

“For Attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run their fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.
People, more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed. Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms.
As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself and the other for helping others.”

“Have you had a kindness shown? Pass it on;
‘Twas not given for thee alone, Pass it on;
Let it travel down the years,
Let it wipe another’s tears.
Pass it on.”

 Don’t Pass Me By

He walked with eyes lowered, head to the ground.

When he saw me, he spoke, and I took in his sight.

He was scruffy and raggedy in his eyes was no light.

He said, “Ma’am, I’m hungry.”

He was very polite.

I said to him softly, “No money have I,

but I’ll buy you some food

with these food stamps of mine.”

We walked on in silence, this homeless old man,

and he said, “Give me your number

I’ll pay you back when I can.”

I looked in his eyes, where hopelessness lay,

and I said, “Never mind. I don’t want you to pay.”

As we walked down the aisles of the grocery store,

like a child he picked something, then asked for some more.

I gladly told him to fill all his needs,

because in my lifetime, I’ve done some bad deeds.

I’ll never forget him, as he went on his way,

because he gave me something I can never repay.

He gave me a chance to give what I could,

a chance to show love to the misunderstood…

a chance to feed someone when no one else would…

a chance to be special, a chance to be good.

I’ll ever be grateful to the stranger in rags,

for showing me Love in a few grocery bags,

for letting me be the one who had more,

for letting me answer his knock at my door.

You see, I’m no angel, though I’ve wanted to be.

I’ve hurt many people by just being me,

and this man, this stranger, who did not pass me by,

set free for an instant an angel to fly.

A Thought for Today

Be careful of the people you let into your life, the smiling face and cheerful countenance could be part of a disguise.
Let no one take you for granted and you should do the same.
From gossip and words of hate let your tongue refrain.
Give thanks for each new day and for the blessings from up above. Treat the people you encounter with kindness and love.

Homeless Man Gets a Home

This video is a confirmation that there are still good people in this world who with selfless acts of kindness are able to make a difference in the lives of others. The world would be so much of a better place if more people take the time to care

Treasures

A little act of kindness,
A little gift of grace,
To see Jesus in my brother,
With love, his fears erase.

To gentle with the humble,
To give comfort to the weak,
To serve with joy and gladness,
The poor, the hurting, seek.
