Take Control of Your Happiness

The mistake many of us make is to expect someone to come into our lives and make us happy. The key to happiness is to realize that no owes us any obligation to make us happy. We must take control over our lives and do not rely too  heavily on someone else for happiness. Often after a breakup people hold on to the hurt and pain of the failed relationship. Unhappiness becomes a way of life and there is no moving forward.

We have to understand that people will disappoint us, they will betray and hurt us. But we must refuse to let them take our joy. Promise yourself that you will choose happiness in spite of situations that are beyond your control. Trust God and know that he will not allow the person who cause you pain to live happily ever after while you live in misery.

You know this brings to memory something which happened some years ago. There was this man who was with his girlfriend since they were back in high school. She bore him four children. He left her when their last child was about four months old and married another woman. He said she was making him not able to save any money. He kept making babies…what did he expect.

Any way he went on with his new life with the christian woman he had married taking better care of her two children than he was taking care of his own children. I guess happily ever after was all he saw on horizon. However it was not long after…maybe a year when he got in trouble at work  He got fired from his job and attempted suicide. My point is you cannot expect to live a happy life by causing pain to others. What you give is what you will eventually receive.  So Live, Love, Forgive and be Happy.

Good Friday

Tomorrow many Christians around the world will celebrate  Good Friday in remembrance of how Jesus Christ came down from Heaven to earth and died on the cross for our sins in order that we all can have everlasting life if we serve him and live according to his commandments.  One of the things that Jesus taught during his time on earth was ‘Love’.   Loving ourselves and loving one another.  Love is so much lacking in the world today and it is part of the reason that there is so much violence, so much killings, so much disregard for human life.  People kill one another as if it is no big deal; having no understanding of what it is to love.  Where there is love there is understanding, there is forgiveness, there is the desire to protect the ones you love.  Where there is no love the exact opposite happens.  Unless we have love for one another there will never truly be peace in this world.  Jesus taught about love and forgiveness.  How many of us live by those rules?  He who was without sin loved us so much that he gave his life for us.  Can we love one another enough so we can stop killing each other?   Let this be a time to reflect;  to give thanks to God for sending his son to die on the cross for us.  Let us make the changes necessary in our lives and start loving one another.  A blessed Good Friday to everyone.
