In ancient times, a king had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the king’s wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it.

Many loudly blamed the king for not keeping the roads clear, but none did anything about getting the big stone out of the way. Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. On approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded.
As the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the king indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway. The peasant learned what many others never understand.

I have read this story in school when I was a kid – loved it then, love it now
Yes there is a great lesson in it!
True that
Oh so true. Often the loudest complainers are the ones who do the least!
Jan you hit the nail on the head. This is so true!
Is the person who brings the issue to public awareness a complainer?
Does the person who is skeptical of statist, corporate activities and points out cases of fraud, deceit and hypocrisy just complaining?
If i blog about about vaccine and big pahrma corruption/fraud, am I just complaining?
In my book silence in the face of lies, deceit, fraud or evil perceived is NOT honourable behaviour.
If that makes me a “complainer” I will wear the badge with pride!
The legalese profession have the concept of silence is CONSENT! Complain and disavow immoral behaviour. Verbal loud dissent is a strong weapon against the monopoloy of violence from the state.
The moral of this story is that there are situations where people can help themselves but choose to complain instead rather than do something about. This is quite different from other situations were the scope of the problem is beyond that of the common man to fix.
