Gun Control

Another mass shooting and the debate continues about gun control. There are those who are adamant that there is no need for stricter gun laws. Some are quick to point out that the states that have little or no gun laws do not have much shootings. Few give thought to the fact that it is these states that allow people who shouldn’t own a gun the ability to do so.
Maybe my viewpoint stems from the fact that as a little girl in rural Jamaica in our district no one owned a gun and gun crime was unheard of. Times have changed and it’s not the same anymore. The ease at which guns are available in the US has cause our Caribbean countries to be flooded with guns.
Anyone who believes that we we can stem gun violence and mass shooting by allowing everyone to bear arms is misguided. Weapons of destruction has never and will never bring peace.

  1. Mad people kill people guns are only tools nothing else.Oklahoma terrorist beheaded his co worker with a knife so they want to control knives ,Boston jihadists brothers used pressure cooker so they want to control the p.c.These clueless politicians want to divert the attention from Islamic terrorism to work place violence.

  2. Fun violence is what happens when you value ideas over people. This country has always valued ideas over people–even and especially children.

I woke up yesterday to a new product on my newsfeed: a bullet proof mat to lay over children in case someone comes and shoots up your school. It seems it is easier to put a (money making) bandaid over a wound that needs surgery instead.
