A nine year old girl accidentally shot and killed her shooting instructor at a shooting range in Arizona yesterday. Charles Vacca the thirty-nine years old instructor was teaching the girl how to fire a Uzi Sub-machine gun when she lost control of the weapon and shot him. Below is a brief video of the child and instructor before the tragedy happened.

The question that is utmost in my mind is why was this child allowed to handle such a powerful weapon. Why was there a need for her to learn to shoot it. It was a terrible decision with equally terrible consequences. I hope this serves as a lesson to all parents. Let children be children let them do children stuff. There are other forms of recreation besides shooting a gun.

I do honestly believe that guns should be banned , only to be used by responsible adults in controlled circumstance. Absolutely no reason for people to assume the right to bear arms. That child will never recover from that incident, that instructor has died at her hands what will happen to his family. What will happen to the child. I blame the parents, I blame the law. But that is irrelevant a man is dead and a child’s life is ruined.
I feel the same way you do. This tragedy should not have happened. The parents by making this decision are responsible for the death of this man and this child no doubt will be scarred for life.
Although I am not anti-gun, I have owned them and formerly hunted, I do believe that this tragedy was brought about by a host of bad decisions by adults that should have known better. I live in Arizona, but am not originally from hear and I will say that they have an entirely different mentality when it comes to guns than most of the rest of the country especially New Jersey where I am originally from. They are as free with guns out here as breathing. There is open carry and concealed carry with no registration of the firearms…it really is like the old west except there are a lot more people now than there were back in the 1800’s. They take the 2nd amendment to the extreme in Arizona and it is wrong, but they will likely never learn so expect more of these kind of tragedies in the future I’m sorry to say. It is amazing how silent the NRA is when their precious guns kill innocent people. Very sad indeed.
Of course they are going to be silent. Their whole purpose is to sell guns. It is a sad state of affair that making money is more important than saving lives.
Isn’t it odd that one has to be 21 to buy alcohol, 18 to vote, 17 to get married, and 16 to drive, but one can handle a killing machine at the age of 9? We are a strange society.
We are indeed living in a strange world!
