We have all heard the cry time and time again about nurses been overworked and underpaid and while this is the case in many instances there are some nurses in the sector who definitely should not be there. These nurses are using the excuse of being short-staffed not to carry out their duties. I had such an experience a few days ago when I was admitted to hospital. I had just being diagnosed with diabetes was dehydrated and required fluids. The bag of fluid I had been getting finished about nine-thirty in the morning and was to have been replaced. As the morning progressed and none of the nurses came to change it I went and asked one of the nurses to put up a new line. I was told “Miss go and lie down nurse soon come to you.” I went back to bed, no one came. As the day progressed I became more and more dehydrated to the point where my vision became blurred and I could barely see. I kept going to the nurses begging for one of them to just come and put up a new line. At one point one nurse who was sorting out some papers said to me ”Miss we short staff you see all these papers them important a have to finish them before a leave, maybe when a finish if a have the time a will come and see to you.” This particular nurse is not only a disgrace to the nursing profession but she is also a disgrace to the hospital and she seriously need to change her profession. There was no emergency on the ward, these nurses were not attending to any patients and until they went off duty about four-thirty none of them came to set up a new line. Thankfully a junior nurse who came on after they left attended to me when she checked my blood pressure it had dropped to 90/77, she quickly set up an iv line. I am really grateful to her and the other junior nurses who are doing a really great job. I just hope they will not lose their sense of purpose, their humanitarian principles and their professionalism. I hope they will continue to care and take pride in their jobs.

Joke

A woman once had three daughters but they spoke so bad and so loud she didn’t want then to talk to anyone. One day an important gentleman was to come and see the mother; however she had to go to the river, so she left them with strict instructions that if the gentleman came before she returned none of them was to say anything. Shortly after she left the man arrived; the youngest daughter seeing him coming shouted ”Mumma nu die ya” The second daughter said ”Sista yu neva ear mumma sey yu nuffi peek?” The third one feeling pleased with herself shouted ”Tang gad massa me neva peek nor poke!” (This is Jamaican thing only we can understand it!)
Rihanna’s Hair Styling Bill is Fourteen Thousand Pounds Weekly?
I would like to believe the headline above is wrong because that is some kind of money to be spending weekly on just hair. Rihanna honey if this is true, this kind of spending will make you get broke girl. Money has magic it comes but then it disappears in a flash if you are not careful. When you are in the public eye all eyes are on you. People are looking to see you slip. For those who are watching to see you go broke don’t give them the satisfaction. Like I said keep it real girl or it will all slip away.

Peace
Water dripping,
A spring flowing,
The sound of a bird in the air,
Then silence…….
Silence like a hope unfolding,
Silence like a soft whisper,
Silence like a gentle prayer,
That the guns will be stilled,
There will be no sound of anguish,
No sudden cry of pain,
No innocent blood spilling,
That there will be peace in our land,
No sound,
Just silence

Re. Scrap Metal Trade in Jamaica

“Some people have this amazing ability to turn disaster into opportunity, while others simply turn potentially fruitful opportunities to disaster. Try to remain optimistic at all times so the latter doesn’t happen to you.” (Michael Williams) The banning of the scrap metal trade in Jamaica is a perfect example of people turning something which would have been otherwise productive into disaster. Not only was the trade providing much needed employment, it was also helping to clean up our countrysides of these unsightly metals. However when people are driven by greed they lose their moral conscience. The cutting down of telephone cables and the theft of railway lines are bad enough; but when they begin to desecrate graves, when not even the dead can rest in peace, when caskets are been dug up for there metal handles, that served as a signal that enough was enough. There are people who have invested a lot of money in the scrap metal trade and would like for the ban to be lifted; and one can understand their situation. The question is if this is to happen what measures will be put in place so that the factors which caused the closure of the trade in the first place do not repeat itself. Does anyone have any answers?
A Thought of Inspiration From Ecclesiastes 9:11

I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry and the skillful are not necessary wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time.
Amy Winehouse
It has been suggested that Amy Winehouse death might have resulted from her attempt to withdraw from alcohol on her own. If this is so this would be the second case I have heard about. Many of us are not aware that just like cocaine and heroin, alcohol can produce serious side effects if you attempt to withdraw from it on your own. Using a line from Amy Winehouse song; They tried to make me go to rehab, I said “No, no, no” Maybe this is one of the time she should have said “Yes, yes, yes” Then again, maybe it was her time to go. Such a tragic loss of a young life. At the age of twenty-seven, gone too soon. We however do not know what demons she was fighting or why she chose to do it on her own. All we can say is RIP Amy. There are no more problems for you to wrestle with. God Bless.
Food For Thoughts

I close my eyes and reality sins in, the past, the present intertwined. A vivid contrast of what was and what is. And yet if one digs deeply enough, it is clear that nothing really changes. People born and people die. People get married and people get divorced. There are devoted parents and there are those who don’t really care, all living together in a world where sometimes strange things do happen. There is a road which we all need to take. One which path will lead us to true happiness. Question is, how many walk that path? How many are able to find that road. Many spend their lives searching for it; some not even understanding the true meaning of happiness. Maybe it is time to change that perspective and begin to enjoy each day to the fullest!
An Inspirational Passage From Proverbs 23 verses 29-35

Who has anguish? Who has sorrow? Who is always complaining? Who has unnecessary bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes? It is the one who spends long hours in the tavern, trying out new drinks? Don’t gaze at the wine, see how red it is, how it sparkle in the cup, how smoothly it goes down. For in the end it bites like a poisonous snake; it stings like a viper. You will see hallucinations, and you will say crazy things. You will stagger like a sailor tossed at sea clinging to a swaying mast. And you will say “They hit me, but I didn’t feel it. I didn’t even know when they beat me up. When will I wake up so I can go for another drink?
