The internet is an interesting place. It is a place where we often get the news first and there are tons of information at our fingertips. While we learn and keep abreast of what is happening around us we have to be mindful that not everything that we see on the internet is true. In fact rumors move faster on the internet than facts. They get the most likes comments and shares and few question the whether or not the story is true.
When our backyard becomes the internet and someone start a rumor the effect is the same. People will like it. They will comment on it and you can bet your life that they are going to share it. Just like on the internet the truth is irrelevant as long as the story is juicy. However that not every one is going to believe those rumors. There are some who will question the validity and point out that the story is false.
Sadly this will not quell rumors, those who want to believe it will continue to spread it until the next rumor comes along.

Very true 🙂
Not just internet.
I hate some people’s mouths who just love to put their own perceptions and interpretations rather than check the matters before going into conclusions.
You are right Yoshiko. That was the point I was trying to make it is not only on the internet that rumors spread by those not interested in facts.

Reminds me of the old proverb about the wise man who told a gossip to take her pillow to the top of a tower, tear it open and shake the feathers loose over the city. Then he told her — “Now, gather the feathers up.”
A great lesson there…it is much easier to scatter than to gather.
