A beggar asked Ibrahim ibn Al Adham for charity Ibrahim told him: “I’ll give you better than that; come with me.” Ibrahim accompanied the beggar to a merchant, and asked him to find a job for the beggar. As Ibrahim was well trusted, the merchant didn’t hesitate to give some merchandise to the beggar and asked him to travel and sell them in another city.
A few days later, Ibrahim found the beggar still in a miserable condition; surprised, he asked him about the matter. The beggar informed him: “While traveling, I found a blind eagle in the desert, and I was very curious how it got food though it was blind; I observed it for some time and, at my big surprise, another eagle came with food and fed it. Thus, I said to myself: it’s WHO took care of that blind eagle in this desert who will also take care of me! I returned to the city and give the merchant back his goods.”
Ibrahim, after reflection, asked him: “But tell me, why did you choose to be the blind eagle, not the other one, who could fly, chase, and take care of others?”
A twenty-two-year old man has been arrested in the death of a two year old girl in Oklahoma City. The child was taken to hospital after she was found not breathing. Examinations revealed that she had been sexually assaulted. The child suffered injuries to a number of internal organs and lost a lot of blood. The man is held without bail on charges of rape and murder. Reads like a horror story doesn’t it, but what I find even more disturbing is that according to the police the mother of the child refused to give them a description of the man who happens to be her boyfriend. The report also stated that the sheets were stripped off the child’s bed; the room vacuumed and wet laundry found in the washer. Was this an attempt of a cover up? How horrible for a toddler to have to die this way. Why is there so much evil in the world?
This video is very painful to watch. It is disgusting that this Hungarian reporter was so insensitive to the plight of Syrian refugees and that she would resort to kicking and tripping some of them as they ran for their lives. How can someone be so heartless is something I cannot understand. Talk about kicking someone when they are down… She was fired from her job and rightly so. Her behavior was disgraceful.
Life is more than what we see
It’s little steps to eternity.
All we are is counted and stored
In God’s great heart that is often ignored.
Gifted with talents from His own hand,
And given free will the way he planned,
We are sent forth but not sent alone
But are given an angel of our very own…
Who guides us and guards us each passing day
To help us do rightly and always to pray.
We seem to become what the world sees and knows.
God sees more – Is it Him that we chose?
Money can buy a bed but not sleep
Books but not brains
Food but not appetite
Finery but not beauty
A house but not a home
Medicine but not health
Luxuries but not culture
Amusements but not happiness
Religion but not salvation
A passport to everywhere but heaven
